Ingredients

  • 1 lb salmon
  • 2 tablespoon teriyaki
  • 2 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic

Method

  1. Pat the salmon dry lightly with a paper towel.
  2. We used a piece of salmon that already had the skin removed. You can leave the skin on or remove it if you prefer
  3. Add sea salt, garlic powder, and black pepper to a small bowl and combine.
  4. Add the honey, teriyaki sauce, and sesame oil to a small mixing bowl and whisk together to combine.
  5. Sprinkle the seasoning over the salmon and allow it to marinate for 10 minutes.
  6. Preheat your air fryer to 375 degrees.
  7. Spray the air fryer basket with olive oil or cooking spray, then add the salmon to the basket.
  8. Place the salmon in the air fryer, brush it with the honey and teriyaki glaze, and cook for 7 minutes.
  9. Once done, remove from the air fryer and allow to rest for 5 minutes before slicing. If you have any teriyaki glaze left over, brush it over the salmon or serve it on the side for extra sauce.
  10. Serve on its own, or over a bed of rice with your favorite vegetables for a complete meal.

Notes

Chef Tips
  • Pat the salmon dry before seasoning to achieve a better crust.
  • Preheat your air fryer before cooking to ensure a more even cook.
  • Don’t overcook salmon. Pull it when it flakes easily and still looks juicy in the center.
  • Brush glaze on in layers, one before cooking, one halfway through, and one at the end. That’s how you get the glossy, sticky finish without burning it.
Recipe Variations & Adjustments
  • Ginger Garlic Teriyaki Salmon: Add fresh ginger and garlic for that “why is this so good?” depth to the teriyaki glaze.
  • Spicy Teriyaki Air Fryer Salmon: Add sriracha or chili flakes for a sweet-heat glaze.
  • Pineapple Teriyaki Salmon: Add pineapple juice to the teriyaki glaze or crushed pineapple for a tropical, sweet finish.
  • Teriyaki Salmon Rice Bowl Style: Serve over rice with cucumber, avocado, and spicy mayo for a restaurant-quality feel at home
How to Store and Reheat
Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
Reheat in the air fryer at 350 degrees for 2-3 minutes, then brush with a fresh coat of teriyaki sauce, sesame seeds, and scallions to taste, and re-glaze.
Serving Suggestions
  • Serve with white rice or jasmine rice.
  • Steamed broccoli or edamame is a great complement to this dish.
  • Roasted Asparagus and roasted Brussels sprouts make a well-rounded lunch or dinner.
  • Serve over top of a salad with crispy wontons and a drizzle of spicy mayonnaise for a healthy, tangy kick on a busy weeknight.
